But if all you can come up with is 5 stars and a sentence or two saying that program X is great and I don't know what I'm talking about, please save your breath.

No one here will take you seriously. And I apologize for the almost unreadable formatting, a severe limitation of MacUpdate itself, which compresses maximum text into minimum space, leaving no whitespace for readability.

TTS is a an exceptional piece of quality engineering, safe when used properly, and superbly documented, with in-depth tutorials for every option. One of its many components is called "Uninstallation Assistant," which will find and remove app components, probably better -- and more safely -- than anything listed above. Still, the same warnings apply. You can't just go hacking into your Mac, removing files willy-nilly, not knowing what function they perform.

Don't get sucked in by a pretty interface. You may very well regret it. Why this obsession imposed by the developers to always clean, clean, clean his computer? Since I no longer use any "cleaners" my computer works much better!

Humiston Feb 27 It is awful, buggy, crappy interface, cannot resize the window, has strange bubble windows hanging off of it. Ugly as sin and basically not usable. The previous version, 4.

Plus they have little to NO tech or customer support. Do NOT give them any money! Look elsewhere for this functionality as I will now. Do yourself a favor and do not use this software. It removes files and renders other software unusable. This is inacceptable and if you do not know which files to manually remove to get more space on your mac, chances are high you should not be using CleanMyMac as you will not understand what it does and that will result in all sorts of unwanted behavior.

There are pros and cons. Cleans and deletes unnecessary files, but sometimes the OS starts to glitch because of it. Stay away from it. I'm relatively tech savvy. All I wanted to do was remove some of the cluttered files on my mac but instead I almost lost a client. Terrible company, stay well away. Macmuser Dec 4 Does what it says it will but check preferences first or you may delete things you were saving, such as emails and attachments.

It's also a bit nagging until you turn off some of the irritants. At the same time It found two Adware's that had crept in and were missed by Sophos and Malwarebytes.

One nice touch is the menu bar mini app shows things such as network speed with tester , memory available, CPU load and disk space — the same things I use Menu Meters for. So that will save me the cost of getting their bit version. CleanMyMac asks me for my password dozens of times - I uninstalled it Rip off! Purchased the newest version of it at the time Clean my mac 3 just to learn that they discontinue that version 14 months after purchase offering me to purchase the new one - which is this one.

Thanks but no thanks - there are better alternatives out there. Tried it hated it, dumped it. ShotBlocker Sep 3 I did a search for 'cleaner'. If MacUpdate will let me, I intend to post this every time a new or updated version of one of these things shows up on this site. There are 37 in the list, and it seems like new entries in the 'Mac cleaner' market space pop up every day, metastasizing like a cancer. Many have no reviews at all. TinkerTool System is a an exceptional piece of quality engineering, safe when used properly, and superbly documented, with in-depth tutorials for every option.

As for the rest, listed above, it is safe to say that nobody who really knows what they're doing with Macs and macOS will touch them. Do NOT download this program!!!! My MacBook Pro no longer works properly. Ugh what a piece of crap!

ShotBlocker Jul 17 As a public service to the MacUpdate community, I've found as many "cleaner" apps on this website as I could. There are 35 in this list, and it seems like new entries in the 'Mac cleaner' market space pop up every day. Many have bad reviews. Many have what look to be essentially fake 5-star reviews with very little useful commentary. Most brag about what a great job they do, but the truth is, there are no good reviews of these things by impartial 3rd parties.

As for the rest, listed above, it is safe to say that nobody who really knows what their doing with Macs and macOS will touch them. And please, at the very least make a full-disk backup before you go hacking around. In installed this garbage on 2 of my 3 Macs. It slowed them to a crawl and caused many programs to just freeze up.

This is obviously spyware. Don't pay attention to the phony positive reviews that are posted here. Support is now dropped as of Catalina update. The free version looked nice and had more features than CMM3.

Malware removal, extension viewer, update viewer for applications, a cleaner UI. I interpret their explanation for not adapting CMM3 to Catalina as it was advantageous to charge more money than to provide crucial software updates to maintain functionality.

This makes sense, its a business and they need to make money, its just poor choice for customer retention in opinion. I emailed support to express this and received the same explanation as what is posted on their website for lack of support for CMM3: "CleanMyMac 3 is still a reliable cleanup solution for the operating systems it was designed for macOS Corrupted my entire folder structure.

You'd think it would warn when you may remove something that's critical - and I thought I was just "cleaning". Not again. Downloaded several days ago. The app looks good except its price.

Since I no longer use CleanMyMac the latest version was 4. Before, this percentage increased continuously! Another aspect : The application finds a certain quantity of files which are good to erase, so that later it only erases a small part of it - the files which are not erased are called "Failed". There is a problem here Zoghabi Jun 23 Good app with nice interface and I am considring the best in its kine, I've paid since version 1. I hate pushing me to pay annually even so no major changes since version 3.

Why I should pay annually just to repair my OS upgrade. Dear Macpaw team, let your customer decide when to upgrade or you will loose many support fans like me. Please don't. I paid for this app and it was running really nice until my Adobe Creative Cloud stopped updating and Adobe programs were failing to work correctly.

After 3 days of trying to figure out with my Creative Cloud was not updating together with help from Adobe and after an IT professional I hired, he suggested that I would install everything from scratch on my new mac without the anti-virus software just to see if that was it. I did and everything was running well! Just to check I could hardly believe that it was the cleanmymac software tbh I installed the cleanmymac software again and ran it - and my creative cloud stopped working again.

It is very clear that this is an issue that needs to be solved, what else is cleanmymac deleting that you would need? I paid already so that is wasted money but will be uninstalling the software today.

I was told by my IT tech team that this is not safe to use or have on my machine. The app is baiting to purchase a subscription for using some essential features, but it's really the most powerful mac cleaner on the market. I just wonder if it could be less pushy.

DragonMaster Mar 14 If you need an uninstaller and you don't want to pay for it The new MacUpdater is extraordinary, it will detect any app you have be it 32BIt, discontinued, on the App Store or not. Highly configureable and dirt easy to use. You buy it you own it. As far as Malware protection goes, CleanMyMac has it, kind of. If you are concerned about Malware try MalwareBytes if you do not want massive protection it will run for free. Just what does CleanMyMac do for you that is so unique to justify its cost?

The developer has castigated Onyx on its site for being deficient. They do not mention all of the free utilities built into Onyx It has many capabilities that are truly valuable that the very expensive and deficient CleanMyMac does not have.

CleanMyMac still has one major problem that I have directly challenged the developer about since Catalina came out. This app cannot and will not maintain Full Disk access for any period of time no matter what you do! Follow all of their instructions, install, reinstall, authorize, reauthorize, it will not maintain full disk access.

This profoundly affects the performance of the app. The developers talk a good game but when challenged they will demand the same data from you time and again and do nothing with it.

You want a deficient piece of junk for your Mac at a ridiculous price feel free This app does not deserve to be on the market with so many better and less expensive alternatives with truly responsive support and developers.

You need to pay for upgrade to new version, as you updated MacOS. No Mercy. I don't know what everyone here is talking about. Look, I'm a minimalist and I like having as few as apps as possible on my Mac but will not take anything less than the best so if I need extra apps than so be it.

Just the utilities the app has alone pays for itself. It picked up on apps that MacUpdater never did. It places simplicity at the core of its design. With smart and self-learning algorithms under the hood, the app stays incredibly easy to use.

The app has been an excellent way to recover space with minimal effort for many years and I expect it will continue to be so for many more. Its built-in tools make it easy to rid your machine of unwanted apps and files, protect it against malware, and more.

For example, the non-paying users can clean MB of junk across all modules and up to 1 GB of junk in the Space Lens module. See the pricing details in the Information section under In-App Purchases. Have questions? We are always here to help. Please message our support using the contact below. See for yourself! With that being said, CleanMyMacX found things I carried with me all of these years that genuinely served no purpose; alternatively, they were a burden.

I am still assessing the tried and true power that the app offers its users. But I can see a noticeable speed boost, and I feel secure that security is their 1 priority. They prove it through the use of quality and user-friendly technology. If there is one thing I would appreciate in the near future, it would be more in-depth yet straightforward explanations of what specific technical terms mean.
